Does the material make you happy?
There was one dialogue when I met my friend like:
“One of my colleagues complained about his job though he has a big house which has some empty rooms even, and he went to ski vacation 3 times this season. He has everything compared to other people.”
Who decides his happiness?
First of all, material can be defined such as an occupation, clothes, a smartphone, a house, a title, money and so on.
A person has everything; a comfortable house which gives him/her an opportunity to live without feeling wind, extreme temperature, or rain, enough income to live including raising his/her kids and a car which allows to move anywhere and carry a big amount of groceries.
I believe that material is a tool for giving you comfort to live your life, however, it will not give you “TRUE happiness”.
Then, what is the true happiness? How much material do you need to feel your comfort?
True happiness will come from the inside of your mind. Or you can feel it in your normal life.
In Japan, we have the word “to be satisfied with what you have“.
When you have dinner together with your family, you can feel that you can give food to your family enough today and eat it together.
When you go out for walking outside and feel the sunlight and soft wind, then you can feel the season has changed from cold winter to warm spring.
Those things might be a tiny thing for current you, however, I want to ask you again how much material you need that you can satisfy.
